Patti is one full week into full-term (39 weeks so far) and still going strong. She's still working 12-hour shifts at the hospital but she only has three more shifts before, and including, her due date this Thursday. It's become cooler here in DC so her ankles have more or less gone back to normal size and she's grateful for that.
The baby is between 18 and 20 ½ inches long and around 6 ½ to 8 pounds. There's no more room in the inn, so to speak, so the baby's movements are a little uncomfortable for Patti. Cute little kicks or shifts have now become uncomfortable pushes on her diaphragm, ribs, etc. Patti is still in love with the pregnancy, but the anticipation is killing us. If the baby doesn't make his/her appearance by the due date, we've set Halloween as the induction date. It's not healthy for Patti or the baby to go past 42 weeks and when Halloween was offered to us, we grabbed it.
Not that we're trying to put Patti into labor, but we've started doing everything we had avoided in case it would start labor. Spicy foods, rubbing Patti's ankles, long walks, bungee-jumping...just kidding about the bungee-jumping. We even went to Mass and not even 30+ years of Catholic guilt weighing down on Patti has pushed the baby any lower.
